Most candidates fail because they narrate facts instead of making a credit decision.

A quick structure you can reuse for interview cases and credit write-ups.

Use this short frame in interviews:

  1. Business quality: what generates cash, what is cyclic, where concentration risk sits.
  2. Leverage + coverage: debt capacity and downside room.
  3. Key risks: what can go wrong in 12–24 months.
  4. Structure + mitigants: covenants, collateral, pricing, and docs.
  5. Decision: would you lend here, under what terms, and why.

The goal is not to sound “smart.” The goal is to sound investable.

A strong executive summary is concise, risk-aware, and explicit on trade-offs.
